Union Club update
August 13, 2008
I posted on this 39 unit condo development a few months ago and I thought it was time to give an update. Still no exact date for when the project will be done, but judging by the look of things it should be done soon. Street level retail is still in the works for the section of the building that fronts Jefferson, but there is still no word on any tenants. Read more

August 7, 2008
Hopefully Sage’s Art House project will be getting start soon, but in the meantime I thought I’d share the updated website on the project. We need more of this kind of developmentin town. If you have no idea what I am talking about check out my previous post on the subject.
Ballpark Village site work begins
August 4, 2008
The Post Dispatch is reporting that the Cardinals will begin site work on the future site of Ballpark Village on Tuesday, August 5th. I was listening to the ballgame on the radio the other day and Mike Shannon kept talking about a big announcement coming this Tuesday. I was hoping for something a little more than this, but I guess its better than the status quo. Check out the article for yourself: Work could begin soon on Ballpark Village site
Sage continues building green infill
July 29, 2008
When stalward builders are closing up shop in droves, its always great to see a success story. I’ve posted about Sage Homebuilders in the past, but I wanted to point out a couple of newer projects they are working on. I was driving down a few backroads in Richmond Heights the other day and stumbled upon a couple of houses being demoed on Hoover.
When I saw the Sage signs in the yard, I was impressed by what I saw. You can see both of the planned properties for yourself on the company’s current For Sale page. According to their website, one of the homes is already presold. Pretty impressive for a $600,000+ home in this market. Not only are these homes quite attractive and unique, they’re green develments too. Hopefully Art House will get underway soon. Keep up the good work guys.
Lofts in Fox Park’s future?
May 29, 2008
Fox Park is one of those South St. Louis neighborhoods in the midst of a transition. Unfortunately, like surrounding neighborhoods such as Benton Park West and Tower Grove East, the current downturn in the market has stalled the progress of redevelopment in the area. But all I see when I pass through the area is the untapped potential. Read more
Tower Grove East condos
April 29, 2008
This project has been under development for a while now, but it’s good to see that the condos on the southeast corner of Sidney & Nebraska are coming along. Located in a former Phillips 66 auto repair shop at 2600 Nebraska in the Tower Grove East neighborhood of South St. Louis, these condos will be a welcome addition to the landscape. I don’t know much about the project at this point other than that the condos are said to be “loft” style. Read more
Development potential in Ellendale
April 23, 2008
If you are in the area of the City defined by Manchester on the North, I-44 on the South, Hampton on the East, and City Limits on the West, you’re paying a visit to neighborhood known as Ellendale. I’ve always considered it to be one of the “forgotten” South City neighborhoods. Or would that be considered Central City? Some might even confuse part of the neighborhood as being in the City of Maplewood due to the similarities in housing styles. Whatever the reason, I have always thought it has been relatively under appreciated. Read more
Mayor Slay on Downtown
April 21, 2008
If you read the St. Louis Post Dispatch, you likely saw the two disturbing stories in the newspaper this weekend about some problems with Downtown developments. The respective stories included an article about Pyramid Development bailing out of the Mercantile Exchange project and a general Downtown article, which implied that the SkyHouse project on Washington Avenue was dead. Union Club progressing nicely
April 16, 2008
If you often drive I-44 in St. Louis City, you’ve probably been wondering what’s going on at the southeast corner of Lafayette and Jefferson. This development project has been hard to miss as it has rapidly progressed from foundation towards completion. Being developed by local developer, Gilded Age, this project has been named and modeled after the Union Club in honor of the building that stood at the site until a tornado destroyed it in 1896. Art House spotlighted in the media
February 29, 2008
Looks like the contemporary infill project in Grand Center, which I posted on a few weeks back, is getting a little more attention. The St. Louis Post Dispatch just posted an article on the Art House project, going into more detail on the projects origins and specs. Here’s the article.
